Spatio-temporal transformations of rivers in arid and semi-arid regions: natural hydro-morphodynamics under anthropogenic and climatic pressures (case of Morocco)
Ali Dadoun (Université Ibn Zohr, Agadir, Marokko)

Regarding the arid and semi – arid regions, our knowledge of the hydro – geomorphological activity of the rivers remains a relative knowledge given the complexity of the factors and the methods that govern it, in addition to the strong spatial heterogeneity. And the timing of the involved processes remains largely unknown.
Generally, rivers face some kind of conflict within their basic mechanisms. This conflict refers to their original and natural morphodynamic activity of recent, abrupt and unusual „natural“ variables such as heavy rains, and to human pressures that are increasing significantly. Where the manifestations of this pressure accelerate and develop clearly, they limit the mobility and normal activity of rivers, with obvious effects that spatially increase the pace and strength of human pressure.
In this presentation, the functioning and the recent hydro – morphodynamic activity of certain rivers will be discussed through some indicators, in order to learn more about the evolutionary tendencies of rivers.
