The Institute of Geography at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is one of the strongest research centres in German-speaking geography. In rankings of the publication performance or the acquisition of research funds, the researchers at Erlangen geography regularly reach top positions (eg. CHE-/Zeit-Ranking 2018, DFG-Förderatlas 2018).
